What are GO Bonds?

General Obligations Bonds are a form of voter- approved borrowing that requires voter approval by local residents before the bonds can be issued. They are a proven and accepted method of funding brick and mortar projects across the sate, proceeds must be used to fund capital projects. The money generated for the School District's improvements after a successful election is repaid in semiannual debt service payments via property tax collections.

NO, the proposed new bond would maintain the current tax rate which is expected to decline by $0.5 mills in 2026. The bonds would be paid through residential and non-residential property taxes. The new residential tax rate for the school district is expected to be around $11.512 mills.

The SB9 Election is meant to be an extension of the current $2 tax rate in place. The current SB9 mill levy is set to expire in 2027, given the timing of School District general elections being on odd year’s – we are asking residents to consider the SB9 mill levy during the 2025 General Election so we can have the new mill levy in place before the current one expires. The SB9 mill levy provides crucial money from local residents and the State that go toward maintaining our facilities for students. Historically the District has maintained a residential mill levy around $12. For the first time in over a decade, the District is expecting a modest decrease in the tax rate. Thank you to all of the residents for continued support over the years!
